What to Expect When an Alarm Is Activated

If an alarm is activated—due to intrusion, fire, panic, medical, or environmental—we first confirm the event to ensure the alarm wasn’t activated inadvertently. In other words, customers can disarm their panel or cancel an alarm if it’s accidentally triggered. (After all, you don’t want the fire department to arrive if you left the toast in the toaster too long or security to arrive for a teenager who forgot their keys.) 

You can also cancel an alarm using your SmartHome mobile app. Just remember you have only 90 seconds after the alarm goes off to cancel it. And you need to press and hold the Cancel button for three seconds. 

Even if the alarm is cancelled, a customer support monitor will call you or your emergency contact(s) to ensure you and your home are, in fact, safe.

If the alarm is neither cancelled nor verified (e.g., if we are unable to reach you), standard action protocols will be initiated, which includes contacting emergency contacts and dispatching a guard or emergency service provider (police, fire, ambulance) as needed.
